L-O-V-E is liquor

I’ve been giving a bit of thought lately to the establishment of a house cocktail this summer.  I am however, an impatient bar tender, and so I researched a lovely recipe for Strawberry Rose infused vodka to make ahead of time, refrigerate and then add to readily available mixers whenever cocktail hour arrives.

Strawberry Rose Vodka Infusion Recipe

Slice 20 fresh strawberries

Place the strawberries in a large pot with 2 quarts of water

Add 2 cups of sugar

Add one half of a 750 ml bottle of vodka

Add 2 teaspoons of rose water (or 10 fresh rose petals)

Add 3 ounces of Chambord liqueur

Simmer for 20-30 minutes (or until strawberries loose their color)

Add remaining vodka, stir and cover until cool

Strain contents into a clean bottle

(The infusion will keep for 2-3 weeks in the refrigerator.)

I envision cocktail hour arriving on a warm summer day, walking barefoot to retrieve the chilled mixture from the fridge, adding a splash of sparkling wine or a half shot of Chambord and finding a sunny spot to relax and sip.
