Parasitic Architecture

October 7, 2009

Imagine how dramatically the aesthetics of a city would alter if parasitic architecture attached to existing urban structures.  The desire to efficiently use urban space prompted Lara Calder Architects to imagine affixing inhabitable domestic spaces to empty vertical surfaces.  These site specific, prefab structures would be accessed at street level by a retractable staircase that would lead to a first level home office, a second level bedroom, a third level living room, a fourth level kitchen and dining space and a fifth level open air terrace.
