Spanish designers Luzinterruptus, known for their site specific light installations, installed 800 illuminated books under the Brooklyn Bridge along Water Street in New York.  The work was constructed specifically to allow nocturnal pedestrians the opportunity to stroll among the texts, stop, admire, read, and then select books to take home, while enjoying an unlikely urban haven of soft light and quiet.

“We want literature to seize the streets and become the conqueror of public spaces, freely
offering to those who walk by a space free of traffic which, for a few hours of the night,
will succumb to the modest power of the written word.”  -Luzinterruptus
