Surrounded in Tears | Oswaldo Maciá

January 3, 2011

Colombian-Caribbean artist Oswaldo Maciá compiled one hundred sound clips of individual cries, from sources as varied as ethnographic and anthropological studies, to informal sound-bites from everyday life, and in collaboration with composer Michael Nyman and designer Jasper Morrison, synthesized the raw material of crying into a beautiful, heart breaking sound installation, in which the personal experience of weeping becomes universal.
