Katrin Sigurdardottir | Boiseries

March 7, 2011

Katrin Sigurdardottir’s Boiseries feature two highly detailed, full-scale renditions of 8th-century French rooms, one that mimics the Hôtel de Crillon in Paris, and the second the Hôtel de Cabris at Grasse in Provence.  Gazing through surveillance mirrors into the enclosed chamber at the artist’s distilled interpretation of a centuries-old interior elicits acute awareness of the highly fabricated and fragile environments we occupy daily.
