Slow Inevitable Death of American Muscle | Jonathan Schipper

May 12, 2011

Jonathan Schipper’s sculpture slowly advances two full sized automobiles into one another over a period of 6 days in a head on collision.  The indistinguishably slow motion fragments a spectacular and instantaneous event to its component parts.  And demolition of the automobile, as extensions of our egos and signifiers of our identities, exhibit the fundamental egoic craving for violent annihilation.
