To the Memory of HP Lovecraft

June 16, 2011

The beastly work of a creature, only so high, with sharp claws and an inexhaustible fury is witnessed in artist Mike Nelson’s installation To the Memory of HP Lovecraft.  The supernatural animal whose malign intelligence and brutish force ripped holes into white gallery walls, splintering wood and shattering white plaster, has long since disappeared leaving the viewer to bear witness to the marks and memory of violence.
