Ruben Ochoa | Cores and Cutouts

March 9, 2012

For Cores and Cutouts Artist Ruben Ochoa literally mined the foundation and substructure of the Locust Projects Gallery for source materials. Sawing rectangles out of the concrete floor, he hoisted the concrete slabs onto welded steel stems to reveal their organic, mottled undersides.  The result was urban architecture split and reconfigured as a concrete and construction-gauge metal dry garden.
