Helen Mirra | Time’s Markings

March 29, 2012

Helen Mirra’s rhythmic printmaking is a visual record of a laborious artistic ritual.  At regular intervals, during day long walks, the artist makes direct impressions in oil pastel and graphite of the natural elements she finds in the landscape.  Her dense minimalism elicits notions of time’s markings, nature’s imperfections, notions of handicraft and labor, landscape and the human body.
